the view of Lucca from the Torre Guinigi May 16, 2018 / inspired by my time in Lucca: La Vita Lucchese Life in Lucca has been pretty magical. This is my first time visiting this small Tuscan town, and the best way that I can describe it, is that it feels like a tinier and […]

This Week 3 Years Ago: Florence, Italy

Posted on May 16, 2020May 16, 2020by Katie

Since our lives have been substantially more low-key lately, and our days have been filled with the same activities of mostly staying home, I thought that it would be fun to start sharing some of our “this week’s highlights” from years past. May and June are typically European travel months for us, but since we […]

Same Same, Different Week

dave’s killer bread + all of the toppings Saturday / I call this the “Everything But the Kitchen Sink Avocado Toast.” What originally started out as just a basic avocado toast (with some cream cheese and a big slice of tomato), really turned into something much, much different. Quiet Days + A Lot of the Same

Posted on April 25, 2020April 25, 2020by Katie

Saturday / I’ve been really struck with how quiet the city has been lately. And really, it’s all because of the birds that I noticed it. In the mornings I often do a little bit of work on our sofa. And with our windows and patio doors open, I am graced with a beautiful gentle […]

Rain Showers, Organizing + Still Adjusting

Posted on April 11, 2020April 11, 2020by Katie

Saturday / I started out this cloudy Saturday morning in a way that I haven’t for a while now, I went for a run. And while it felt great to get out there and move my body, it also felt not so great. It’s kind of bizarre how this pandemic has thrown off some of […]

Well if it wasn't 2020, then our view would look v Well if it wasn't 2020, then our view would look very different right now. . .think a snow covered forest, a crackling fire, and lots of family snuggles ☹️ This year has definitely brought its fair share of challenges - and being away from our families has easily topped that list. . .but, we're just going to keep focusing our energy on all of our blessings + the gratitude in our hearts that a New Year and lots of new beautiful energy is just around the corner 🥰 And that is also my wish for you all as we approach Christmas and the New Year - an abundance of blessings, and a heart filled with gratitude!

I think that like a lot of you, this Christmas sea I think that like a lot of you, this Christmas season has felt really different, a little strange, and sadly a little less festive than usual. Unfortunately we've been stuck at home again + are really missing getting to be with family and all of the joy that brings us (and snow!) 🎄 So we cranked up the Christmas tunes and decided to bake some sugar cookies this afternoon to get more into the spirit! What have you been doing to spread that Christmas spirit lately?

After some of your great suggestions on things to After some of your great suggestions on things to do / enjoy before baby arrives, we decided to drive up the coast yesterday morning and hang around Encinitas. We don't normally head that far North for the beach, but Lord knows we definitely won't once baby is here 🤪 We got some delicious coffee from @ironsmithcoffee, we tried the famous Leucadia Donut Shoppe donuts, and we walked all over town. What kind of weekend did you enjoy?
