If you’ve been reading my blog for long enough, then you probably remember the 101 in 1001 list of goals, dreams and fun ideas that I had created for myself back in 2016. Being the list-lover that I am, after I heard about this idea from a friend of a friend of a friend, I immediately knew that it was something that I wanted to do. And so I did.
It took me about a week to compile exactly what I wanted on my list, but once I did, I was ready to go. I officially started my list on September 13, 2016, with an end date scheduled for June 11, 2019. Exactly 1,001 days. And probably for at least the first 365 days (or maybe even longer), I really believed that I was going to check every single thing off of my list.
But you know what? Life happens, people change, dreams change, and ideas definitely change. And so at some point I decided that if something didn’t feel well suited for me anymore, that I would either make an adjustment, or just let that idea go. And so I revisited my list, I thought about a lot of things, I decided to change a few things, and some others were left for fate.
And then this happened: a good chunk of time passed, and then I thought to myself the other day, “. . .hmmm, I wonder how many days I have left for my list. . .” And so I checked it, only to realize that not only did I not have any days left, but that it had “officially” ended a few months ago. And that is what we call a whoopsie.
So here we are. Well actually, here I am. I set out with 101 “goals” to be completed, and at the end of it all (actually 1,120 days later), I finished 57. And really, I feel great about that! It’s like they say, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.
And the greatest joy for me in all of this really has been the journey. The traveling, the exploring, the learning and the growing – all of things that I wanted to add even more of into my life. Creating this list gave me a push to be just a little more adventurous; and if for nothing else, I am grateful for that.
It really almost feels like yesterday that I was sitting at my desk writing this list. But now here I am, a few years later, many more new ideas and dreams brainstormed, and so much wonderfully blessed life lived. For me, life is never about the lists or tasks completed, it’s truly just about living. And while I definitely didn’t check everything off of my list (and probably never will), I know for sure that I lived a very full life every single day.
Way to go on accomplishing so many things off your list! I am so proud of you, and I am so grateful to have been able to share in so many of them with you!
Awwwww…you definitely know how to make me blush <3 Thank you for your support always!!
