Arch You Excited?

The next stop on our big Utah trip was Arches National Park, and the Mr. was particularly excited for this.  Which I really had no clue about until we entered the park and he announced that he really loves arches and has been looking forward to this part of the trip.  Go figure.  Or as my Dad would say “go ahead!”

We spent the day exploring the various arches by driving and hiking throughout the park.

Our first stop was a short hike out to Landscape Arch.  This is one of the more famous arches in the Park.  A large chunk of it actually fell off in the 90’s with tourists watching – it definitely reminds you that these are all delicate pieces of nature and we all have to do our part to help preserve them.

You used to be able to go right up to the arch, but since the piece fell off, they keep you at an arches length :)

After Landscape Arch, we were both really excited to see the most famous arch of them all, Delicate Arch (as scene on the Utah license plate).  You can view the arch from a scenic overlook, but we both wanted to do the short hike out to see it up close and in person.

We were lucky enough to show up at a quieter time and enjoy the arch before other tourists starting running around it and through it.  We had packed a lunch, so we sat and enjoyed the beauty of Delicate Arch while having our antipasti.  Definitely a lunch with a view.

After Delicate Arch, we drove throughout the park and made sure we stopped at every arch.  Seriously, every single arch.  Personally, I would have been fine missing some of the smaller ones, but the Mr. really wanted to make sure that we saw every arch just in case we were never came back again.  Rest assured, we saw every arch.
