Saturday / We probably go to the grocery store more than I would like to admit. And really, it’s a love-hate sort of situation. I actually love going to the grocery store. Except for the days when I don’t feel like going at all. But then I love that we are able to sort of decide on the fly what sounds best to us for dinner each night. But then I also have those days where I wish that we had planned more in advance. Well, today was the later. I didn’t feel like running to the store, and our pantry was looking a little bit sad. Lucky for us though, we discovered one little piece of truffle butter sitting in our freezer, just waiting to be used up and made into one of our favorite Ina Garten recipes, Pasta with Truffle Butter.
Sunday / If you are local to San Diego, then I really hope that you already know about Warwick’s Book Store in La Jolla. It’s not exactly the most convenient stop for us, but it is always something that sparks so much joy. The store has the most delightful and well curated collection of books, incredibly knowledgeable and well read staff, super duper selection of cards and little gifts. . .and it kind of feels like you stepped back in time just a little bit. This store could easily make a reader out of anyone.
Monday / We had a gloriously gloomy and surprisingly cool start to our day here. And after the heat wave that we have been experiencing, neither one of us could have been happier. Ryan suggested that we take our run over to Coronado, and it really was the perfect idea. Mornings like this are definitely as Fall as it gets here in San Diego, and you better believe that we will be soaking up every ounce of it.
Tuesday / Finally. After what felt like a very long Summer without Disneyland, our annual passes are now valid again, and we were gleefully reunited with each other today. This truly is the happiest place on Earth, corn dogs and all.
Wednesday / Prior to a few weeks ago, I had neither listened to, nor watched a single episode of Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday series. But after randomly tuning in, I immediately knew that I needed to listen to every single one. So I’ve now been listening to roughly one episode a day, and already my soul feels even more lifted and open.
Thursday / As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a several-books-at-the-same-time kind of girl. And this week I finished up two books that actually complemented each other very well, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s, “the Power of Intention,” and Dr. Joe Dispenza’s “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself.” But as much as I love “self-help” books, for whatever reason I wasn’t incredibly invested or interested in either. In fact, I’m sorry to say that I felt a bit happy to be done.
Friday / Sometimes nothing beats a big bowl of pasta. And tonight was one of those kinds of nights. Jon & Vinny’s recipe for spicy vodka sauce with fusilli has hands-down become one of our favorites. It’s a little bit spicy, but it’s also creamy, rich, salty and completely decadent. With the addition of some crispy Italian sausage, this is truly the perfect bowl of pasta.
After reading about your week, all I can think about now is pasta!
Hi Frank! Thank you so much for stopping by! And according to me, pasta is always a great idea :)
