Sicilia

When the Mr. and I first started planning our trip to Sicily, we went in with the feeling that we really wanted to live it up.  On paper, Sicily seemed so much further and more difficult to get to than Italy itself, so the trip felt like a “once in lifetime” experience for us.

Well, after our trip, our “once in a lifetime” feeling immediately changed to “when can we go back!?!”  Sicily is a beautiful and amazing island, truly a feast for your eyes (and stomach).   The mountains, the sea, the wines, the food, the beaches and the people – it is a place like no other.

There are so many amazing markets throughout Sicily offering the best of what is in season.

The historical sites and Greek ruins throughout Sicily are awe-inspiring.  So much of them are still so well intact.

It also amazed me that you can still walk through so many of them.

All of the towns are so beautifully preserved -intricate streets, decorated steps, ornate churches – everything is kept with such pride.

Sicily truly has something for everyone.  If historical sites don’t excite you, you can always trek to see the still active, Mount Etna. (It had just erupted the week before we visited!)

More of a water person?  Fear not, there are endless breathtaking views of the surrounding Mediterranean Sea.

Looking through all of these pictures brings me right back.  I can’t wait to start planning our next trip!
