On Saturday we headed up to Del Mar, where we had been invited to attend the San Diego International Wine Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The weather was surprisingly cloudy and overcast for Southern California, but even with the chance of showers, we figured that we might as well go, because wine not?
After checking in, picking up our tasting glasses and list of wineries to sip from, we headed down the red carpet and into the “tasting room.”
The event itself was very nice, small, but very nice. Funny enough, it did seem like a few vendors didn’t show because of the weather. (We always joke that when we have a chance of rain in California, people always stay home…part joke, part truth.) Regardless, the smaller crowds made it much easier for us to peruse the wines and enjoy at our own pace.
In addition to the wines, there were several other tastings there, including cheeses (from my favorite, The Cheese Store), and chocolates.
Surprisingly it did rain for a little bit, but that didn’t stop the music! We huddled up under an umbrella and enjoyed the band.
All in all, we enjoyed our afternoon. It was fun to try different wines from around the world, and a lot of wines that I normally wouldn’t try surprised me with their flavor. Having had a fun afternoon, and with nothing to wine about, we hurried home to warm up with some takeout and a fire.

Although the San Diego International Wine Show gifted us tickets to attend the wine show, no financial compensation was received. All opinions expressed here are my own, and I have given you an honest account of our experience.
Always enjoy dropping by your blog!
