Things in Three

Have you ever heard the old wives tale about things coming in three’s?  I think that the story is that when something bad happens, two more bad things will happen.  While I don’t totally buy into it, I do notice that it happens.  For me, if something happens, good or bad, and then the same thing happens a second time, then I know it will come again.  Yesterday I stumbled a little bit on a curb, then I did the same in the afternoon.  So now I am just like, okay clumsy, get it over with, where’s the third?

But on a more positive note, I have seen the pattern of three developing this past week or so.  I came across a link on the blog Bright and Beautiful that caught my eye – “30 Day Minimalism Challenge.”  It’s actually a link to a blog from someone who is leading a minimalist life, and she posted this challenge.

After reading through the challenge, I thought that it was a great idea for myself.  A little something to focus on everyday – Anuschka explains on her blog some more about the challenge, but essentially the goal is to not skip a day.  Well, I do promise that I am inspired to follow through on this, but I did start last Saturday (yes!  I completed one whole day offline!), and have since forgotten to do it each day :(  Not  that I haven’t made the time, just forgotten.  So I am going to post this one up on my wall as a reminder to keep working on it.

The second thing along the same line came a few days ago.  On the blog HeyRita, I noticed a post on something called “Complaint Restraint.”  This also caught my attention.

This is just basically trying to be mindful about not complaining for the month of February.  Already having started the minimalism challenge, I thought that this would fit in quite nicely as well.  You can read more about the complaint restraint here, and even sign up to get helpful reminders!

So with both of these ideas swirling around, helping to create a more positive life, I am wondering: “Mr. Three, when will you show up?”
