I’m sure that it’s been apparent that I’ve been doing a lot of self reflecting lately, especially since I have written about it several times now. And something that I’m really realizing about myself more and more, is that I really cherish a quiet life. As much as I love to travel, to try new things, or to go on an adventure, I really love being at home and just having some “me” time to recharge my batteries. Yep, I am most definitely an advocate at heart.

Carving out some time for myself is not just something that I like to do, but I feel like it is something that I need. Even taking a few minutes for myself is something that truly helps me to put my best foot forward. And almost all of these “16 Ways to Practice Self-Care That Cost Next to Nothing,” easily find their way into my life on a daily basis.
Not a day goes by without us talking about pasta, cooking it, or me dreaming about Italy. So it’s really no surprise that this article caught my eye, “On the Hunt for the World’s Rarest Pasta.” The tradition and the story behind this pasta (which I will most definitely never be making) is a perfect reflection of why I love Italy so very much.
Although I can’t completely relate to this article, “Life Gets Better After 50: Why Age Tends to Work in Favor of Happiness,” in a sense I can. I can already say with complete conviction that life truly does keep getting better, no matter what your age is. Each year I find myself a little bit more. I listen to myself a little bit more carefully. And really, I’m happier.
We were just starting to talk about our June travel plans to Italy when. . .well, we all know the rest. So while we are temporarily putting those plans on hold, I am also making a point to file away this article for our next trip, “the Best Pasta in Rome: According to Top Chefs.” I definitely need to be eating each and every bowl of pasta that they shared pronto!

Even though I have restricted the permission settings on all of my electronic devices, I often find myself perplexed by the timing of seeing something online just moments or days after a conversation about said item. My mother-in-law recently shared a story with Ryan and I about Dr. Seuss and how he wrote his first book when. . .yep, you guessed it. This article, “the Weird Strategy Dr. Seuss Used to Create His Greatest Works,” popped up on my news feed. But since it is a pretty remarkable story, I’m not totally upset that my laptop was listening to me.
I’ve been meditating almost everyday for about five weeks now, and honestly, it really is all that it’s cracked up to be. And so I couldn’t agree with this article more, “Why Slowing Your Breathing Helps You Relax.” Am I in a constant state of peace, calm, and relaxation? Heck no! But there have been definite and noticeable improvements.
