This past week wasn’t about appointments or what day of the week it was, meetings or schedules, or checking things off of my to-do list. Our week was about family, connection, laughter and memories. And really just about getting out of the flow of our “normal” life.
Going home always feels like such a huge breath of fresh air. And I guess that I really do mean that both literally and figuratively. Because yes, there is definitely something to be said for just getting away from it all – from disconnecting from the patterns of your normal life, and changing things up a bit. But also, my parents live in the country. And out there the air is fresher, the grass is greener, and everything is so vibrantly alive and thriving.
The feeling that we get when we go home is something that we both crave and look forward to. In a way, it is similar to the feeling that I’ve talked about experiencing when we first arrive in Tuscany, but just on a much deeper level. It sort of feels like a weight has been lifted. Suddenly my breathing becomes deeper and more relaxed. And really, everything feels so right with the world.
And so when I look back on this week to think of our highlights, I really don’t find myself thinking of specific moments. It’s more about what I feel. The warm, fuzzy, heart is full feeling after getting to enjoy such beautifully uninterrupted time with family. Those are the feelings that made this week so very special. And those are the feelings that we will hold onto.
