Boston is such a fun city to visit – all of the historic charm, the beautiful parks, the amazing restaurants, and the fact that you can literally walk from one end of the city to the other – I mean, come on, whats not to love?

Walking the city is one of our favorite things to do.  My family will ask us what our plan is for the day, and our response is typically something along the lines of “just walk.”  It’s just such a great way to see the city and all of its charm.

So after many hours of walking, have you noticed?  We hadn’t even stopped for a meal yet (we were still quite stuffed from the previous night’s pasta feast).  Although we weren’t hungry, we did start to get a little bit chilly and quite ready to stop and relax a little.

Luckily for us, we were just rounding the corner of the Prudential Center – somehow we perfectly timed a trip up to the Skywalk and Top of the Hub.

The Skywalk Observatory is practically at the top of the Prudential Center and offers breathtaking views of the entire city.  And after a long day of walking, it’s a fun way to see how much ground you’ve covered, and where you’ve been.

After taking in all of the views, we rode the elevator up a stop to the Top of the Hub, the restaurant that sits at the very tippy top of the Prudential Center; and definitely has equally spectacular views of Boston.

Coming up for drinks was the perfect way to break up our day, relax our feet, enjoy the city views, and even a few nibbles.

Just as the sun finished setting, we realized that that was our cue to start walking back towards our hotel for a quick change before our dinner plans that evening.

The best part about dinner was that we had the luxury of simply walking through our hotel to one of their truly fabulous restaurants, Island Creek Oyster Bar.

banoffee pie … a dessert that dreams are made of

As you might be able to tell, we ate well.  The food was outstanding, we absolutely loved everything, and equally enjoyable was the service.  Each course was better than the last.  We are still talking about how amazing that meal was.  Island Creek Oyster Bar has definitely become a new standard for us when visiting Boston.  A trip wouldn’t be complete without a basket of those fried clams!

But sadly, post banoffee pie, our trip had come to an end.  Between visiting family, walking the city and eating way too many good meals, our time had flown by.  But I guess that’s the sign of a good trip, right?  You leave with a smile and the hope to return sometime soon.  Until next time Boston!
