September

I think that I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that today marks the start of September, and in a lot of ways, what feels like the start of Fall.  More so than ever, this Summer has flown by.  I know in large part this was due to Ryan and I traveling for the month of June, but even with that in mind, I can barely believe that today is September 1st.

Goodbye long sunny days (I’ll miss you), goodbye hot humid weather (I won’t miss you), goodbye packed beaches everyday of the week (sorry, but I won’t miss you either).  September marks the start of some serious excitement for me.  Fall is my favorite time of year, and even though we are still a few weeks off from enjoying cooler temperatures, there is something about saying “September” that really puts me in that Fall mindset and gets me excited.

I am joyfully welcoming quiet beach days, carving pumpkins, spice-scented candles, holiday movies and apple picking.  Ryan has already made our first batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and I have been making mental lists of all of our favorite Fall meals to make for what feels like weeks now.

We might not get the change of colors or that crisp, sweet Fall air; but the changing of the seasons is bringing us plenty of things to look forward to, and we are already so grateful for that.  So thank you September for finally arriving, I have been eagerly awaiting you.

  1. This specific time of year is always so special to me because it was when we’d be reunited after being apart all summer in college!
