Hola Barcelona

11:30 a.m.  We arrived in Barcelona and surprisingly walked straight through customs without waiting in line.

11:35 a.m.  Cue the great wait for our luggage.  So much for feeling like we were going to zip out of the airport.
12:00 p.m.  We were still waiting for our luggage.
12:25 p.m.  We were still (not so patiently) waiting…
12:35 p.m.  Finally our luggage arrived!  Luggage in hand we headed out into beautiful brisk weather and headed towards the train.
2:30 p.m.  After a much longer trek to the train than expected, waiting for the train, taking the train into Barcelona, and a few bad attempts at directions to our bed and breakfast, we finally made it to Ca La Maria.  Where, of course, we were kindly greeted by Maria.  We checked into our cute little room, and got a tour of the adorable property.

3:00 p.m.  After a long day of traveling, we happily dropped our bags, and plopped down on the bed to catch our breath.  Although we both felt like we could probably just sleep the rest of the day away, we decided to head out for a (very) late lunch.  In keeping with planning less, we didn’t have any restaurants picked out, so we just wandered for a little bit until we found something.

4:00 p.m.  We wandered ourselves into Can Codina, and decided to give it a whirl.  We ordered a few different croquettes, some patatas bravas, grilled whole shrimp and red wine (Rioja of course).

Survey says?  Well, probably not the best meal we will have in Spain, but not a bad start either.  And after a few rounds of airplane food, a very welcome change.
5:30 p.m.  Again, feeling a little bit like we could just go home and fall asleep, we fiercely fought our jet-lag and walked Passeig de Gràcia, which is the shopping street in Barcelona.  And although I would have equally loved the sleep, we were really glad that we walked.  In addition to the beautiful architecture of many of the buildings (thanks to Gaudí), all along the streets, the storefronts were beautifully decorated with holiday lights and decor.

7:30 p.m.  We finished our walk and made a quick stop at the local corner store to grab some waters for our room.
7:40 p.m.  Officially home and jammied up.  Today was low key, but it was also the perfect start to Spain.  Tomorrow, after a good night’s rest, I know that we will both be feeling refreshed and ready to conquer some new adventures.
And speaking of which, make sure you tune in to my Instagram Stories tomorrow.  I am going to be live blogging (or storying) our day and everything that we do.  So make sure that you are following me on Instagram (kmiabellavita).  See you tomorrow!  Buenas noches!
