Art Alive

This morning we had the pleasure of attending a special walk-through of the Art Alive exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.  Each year floral artists are assigned a painting in the museum to recreate with flowers, using their own artistic interpretation and flair.  This was our fist year attending the event, but it definitely will not be our last.  (Today is the perfect museum day in San Diego, nice and cloudy, and even a few sprinkles.)

Since we hadn’t attended the event before, we didn’t know what to expect.  But when we walked in, it was just wow.

The museum was dripping in flowers, and so beautifully fragrant as a result.  After taking in the entrance, we wandered around the different exhibitions, perusing all of the beautiful flower arrangements.  It was so interesting to see each artists different interpretation of their painting.  Some are more literal, and some are more loosely interpreted.  But regardless, every piece was beautiful.

The event is so wonderful.  All of the florists are truly artists and have clearly been so thoughtful in their creations.  If you are in the area, definitely make a point to go to.  The event is going on through Sunday and is truly worth a stop.  If you go, it will be sure to flower your weekend with fun.

Although the Museum of Man gifted us entrance tickets to the exhibit, no financial compensation was received.  All opinions expressed here are my own and I have shared with you an honest account of our experience.
